I had come out of a truly terrible stretch of days. A little dazed, still hung up on cough syrup and drowning in fog. Death Bed marked a new approach where minimal details are fleshed out over a few 'rounds' or passes at each piece. I will be bringing this arc to a close soon.

Sometimes the changes would be marked out in absolute time, and sometimes in metronomic time. This would depend on how things got started and what the parameters where. For Death Bed, it was as close to 'anything goes' as I would get.

There were two or three new pieces of musical hardware being explored, and the bass would start to become a fixture with Death Bed. The playfulness and humour embedded in these tracks, assembled under these conditions helps everything jell and feel more like a person (or people) instead of robots and doo dads.

There's a bunch of music here. And I wasn't convinced that much of it was good. So it sat and sat. When I found some final mix wav files of these songs, I spent an evening giving it another listen and touching them up as I went. Turns out that there's much more to enjoy on Death Bed than I originally thought.

I am too lazy and too preoccupied with moving forward to dig out the working files and add to, mix or edit these pieces of music. I worked from stereo masters that had been bounced at the end of a noisey weekend and then posted here. The art had been created at the point where the music was finished, for no other reason than to add something visual to my iTunes. That it already had a striking piece of cover candy ready to go was also a selling feature.

I had started losing people around this time, but I wouldn't call this a tribute. These are my own meditations on death and dying, and what a surreal experience I expect that will be.

Please be patient, the first track alone is more than 20 minutes. I promise you that it goes places and will take you along if you let it. This is a 2 hour commitment and is meant for your headphones. I don't find it harsh, but it is meant to be hypnotic and distracting.
